An exhibition of work by Gallery 4 Art with art, craft and family workshops

Gallery 4 Art will be presenting their Summer Exhibition of Contemporary Art at Halsway Manor. This colourful exhibition will include paintings, sculpture, ceramic work and prints covering a diverse range of styles and subjects. The art is available for sale and there are pieces for every budget from postcards to large paintings.

Artists will include: Jim Munnion - Painting and Prints, Alison Jacobs - Painting, Jenny Barron - Painting, Georgina Towler - Painting, Melanie Deegan - Sculpture, Craig Askew - Painting, Renee Kilburn - Ceramic Work, Sue Lowe - Prints

Workshops:

Time: 10am – 4pm. Cost £65 per day (except Family day) + materials. Lunch, tea/ coffee, & tuition included. All workshops are designed as introductions to their individual topics; no prior experience is needed and materials will be provided.

Monday - "Drawing in the Landscape" with Alison Jacobs

Join Alison for a day of sketching around the grounds of Halsway (including the woods so be prepared for the environment and a bit of walking). Alison will supply paper sketchbooks and basic drawing equipment (but feel free to bring your own!). She will also bring book binding materials so you can have a go at making your own book. Materials: £10 - £15

Tuesday - Silversmithing "Make a Ring" with Ness Bird

An ideal introduction to silversmithing for beginners. You'll learn traditional silver smithing skills – soldering, forging, planishing, mark making and letter stamping – to make a silver ring with a patterned surface. Materials: £20

Wednesday - Intro to Blacksmithing with Dot Kuzniar

Learn basic basic techniques of working with hot metal to create a small decorative piece eg. a poker or a hook. Wear old clothes. Dot will provide safety gloves and goggles. Materials: £10

Thursday - Frame Basketry with Sarah Webb

Learn the traditional techniques involved in producing beautiful, functional frame baskets with willow grown in Somerset. Leave with a completed work of your own! Materials: £3.50

Friday - Wire & Resin Sculpture with Melanie Deegan

Create your own small sculpture using wire and acrylic resin which can be used to give an interesting variety textures. Begin with a wire frame – essentially the drawing process – and then build up resin layers to your piece. Materials: £5

Sunday: Family Art Pack Day!

A choice of fun creative activities on offer with local artists. Each pack – priced £10 – contains the materials you need to join in your chosen workshop. Buy the pack(s) of your choice and enjoy! Bring a packed lunch. Please note the £65 day fee does not apply for the Family Art Pack Day.
