Art Workshops
August 2011 - Binham Grange
A series of art workshops will be running throughout the Summer Art Exhibition at Binham Grange this August. These will mostly be small, informal sessions aimed at giving those attending a chance to try something new or build on basic skills. See the Events Timetable below for details.

Thurs 11th - Pen and Wash - Louise Waugh Tel: 01984 629180
A workshop where Louise will show you how to free up your watercolour technique with free loose washes, yet hold it together with the drawing element of pen. We will use ink and nib pens and bamboo pens for a varied line.

Fri 12th - An Introduction to Relief Printing - Jim Munnion Tel: 01984 623357
Hands on introduction to relief printing on lino and wood. All materials provided.Ages from 10 upwards. Half day, ã15.

Pennyâs famous woven jewellery workshop.
Tue 16th - Wire Sculpture - Melanie Deegan Tel: 01984 624544
A half-day workshop making simple wire sculptures of animals or figures on a plaster base. Bring pictures or sketches for inspiration. All tools and materials supplied. ã20 .

A day around the farm with Alison, especially learning to draw cows!
Thu 18th - Pastels - Louise Waugh Tel: 01984 629180
Enjoy the immediacy of working with pastels. This is a versatile medium which can be both painterly and used as a drawing medium. Layer it so the underlying colour shows through and gives vibrancy to your work. We will use the surrounding garden as inspiration.

Creating and decorating scented soaps using aromatherapy oils and other essences. Please wear old clothes/an apron and if possible bring the following - a plastic bag/plastic box to take work home in, an old mixing bowl, an old towel, a cheese grater, a stirring spoon or fork and a pair of rubber gloves if you have sensitive skin.Aged 10 upward - children must be accompanied by an adult. ã20 â including materials.

Making and decorating felt to create small items or jewellery. Please wear old clothes/apron and if possible bring a plastic carrier bag to take work home, a pair of rubber gloves to protect you skin, a rolling pin and an old towel.Aged 10 upward - children must be accompanied by an adult. ã20 â including materials.

Explore new skills in wirework! Participants will learn simple techniques which will lead to a 2-d or 3-d wire piece, based on linear templates. Various coloured wires and recycled materials will be used to make a final creature or plant sculpture. For ages 10 upwards. Whole day - ã12 pp inclusive of materials.

Thu 25th - Acrylics - Louise Waugh Tel: 01984 629180
This is a highly versatile medium where it can be used in a delicate way like watercolours with overlaid washes or with texture paste as a chunky paint using palette knives to achieve a lively surface and feel to your work. We will work on boards and canvases to portray the garden as a literal scene, or bring an abstract quality to the subject matter.
